Three-Stage Filtration Improves Taste and Odor
The filter’s first stage traps sediment, like dirt, rust, and sand, while the second stage greatly reduces contaminants, pollutants, trace pharmaceuticals, and illness-inducing microbes. In the final stage, water is filtered over natural minerals to give it a more refreshing taste. The result is water that looks, tastes, and smells cleaner.

Each PUR filter provides up to 100 gallons of clean water, and will typically last for two to three months.

Activated Carbon Microfilter Removes Contaminants
The second stage of filtration employs an activated carbon microfilter that removes most of the harmful contaminants commonly found in both municipal water sources and well water.

This filter removes 98 percent of chlorination by-products while also reducing the taste and odor caused by chlorine. Aquasana Premium Under Sink Install Kit – Chrome Review

I owned the Aquasana countertop water filter which worked fine but…Every time you wanted water you had to run the faucet and pull out the little diverter valve to switch the flow to go through the filter. Then you loose space with the filter canister having to place this on the counter next to everything. Also with the diverter valve attached you are loosing space underneath the running water along with every time you need to wash something very large you have the hoses running from the tap that ALWAYS seem to get in the way! I was intrigued by this because this uses the same filter and takes away all hoses and valves that seem to get in the way. I consider myself to be pretty knowledgeable to fix things around the house and after viewing the installation instructions and looking underneath my sink I thought that this would be relatively easy to install. I used an existing hole next to the faucet that was used for the spray nozzle. Start to finish it took about 30 minutes. Most of this time was cleaning out underneath to gain access but anyone with a know how with tools can do this themselves. I have to say I am VERY PLEASED with the results. No more hoses or filter canister. The chrome finish matches my faucet to a tee. Also you have the ability to move the filter faucet over to either side when not in use! Great product! WORTH THE PRICE!

Brita Riviera Water Pitcher, Chrome Review

We have owned our pitcher for about two months, and are very happy with it. The taste of the water is a marked difference from the tap water here in Chicago. Further, the pitcher is reliable and solidly made. Be aware that it is heavy – for the elderly or kids, a full pitcher would be a lot to handle but it works great in our kitchen. We use the water for cooking as well as just drinking water. I can fill up a large pan, refill the filter top and put it aside for a minute or two and have fresh water to fill another pan or for other cooking – simple, just not instantaneous.

Per consumer magazine suggestions, we intend to rely on the taste of the water to tell us when to change the filter. Hence, we don’t really care what the filter ’status’ indicator is saying.

We used to own an inline filtration system with which we were very happy. We find this water quality equivalent in taste, and adapts well to our apartment living where we cannot install a permanent system. As a result, this pitcher is a great compromise at a low cost.

Instapure F-2C Teledyne Water Pik Faucet Water Filter, Chrome Review

I read all the reviews about water filters, and went to Lowe’s looking for the Culligan one. But, nothing from that brand was there, and they had this Instapure filter, in addition to the PUR and the Brita. But I read a lot of bad reviews about the last 2, but did not know of Instapure. Given that it was real cheap, I decided to try it.

So far, so good. When I first installed it, it had a lot of leaks where it attaches. After removing it a few times, I discovered that when I tightened it a lot, the seal would get into the metal adapter. So the next time, I tightened enough so that the filter doesn’t swing loosely, but not enough to make the seal pop into the adapter. That eliminated all leaks.

Also, instead of first installing the adapter on the faucet, and then on the Filter, I first attached it to the filter, tightened it, and then spun the whole filter into the Faucet. This made it really easy to install.
